I suppose since Chicago is closest to Minneapolis, this is my best bet. I am looking for two ottomans, similar to the fabric covered cube ones at Ikea. My hope is to find one that opens at the top and you can stash stuff in it. Does anyone have any ideas or is this something I'm going to have to construct?

Target! I saw a couple there this weekend. They're leather, not fabric, but they're about $40-$60 each.

I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and I am looking to buy some clay roofing tiles. I will be using them for a garden border not a roof. I have called numerous roofers in the area but they say they don't sell material or some other excuse. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy some of these tiles. If you don't know what I mean these tiles are a red/tan/brown color and have a sort of "S" shape to them so that they can overlap each other. Thanks for any info.

Does anyone know when the DWR Herman Miller sale starts? It should be coming up soon, yes?

Pete,

As I am not in Chicago, I'm not exactly sure where to look, but I googled Clay roof tiles and this page had some neat links that might be useful:

Catherine

p.s. Rachel, thank you for the Target tip!

Pete -- have you tried Home Depot? If they don't have them in stock, they may be able to order them.

Thanks for the tips Catherine and Jem. I did check Home Depots web site and they don't have them. But I could go in and ask them if they could order them. One problem might be that I have to order a "square" which maybe to large an amount. Thats how it is from a supplier in my town. I was hopeing to get used ones. Thanks Catherine for the site. I noticed that there is one place on there that I might be able to go to. It's probably 50 miles away so I will have to call first. Thanks again, Pete

Anne:
The DWR Herman Miller starts on June 2 and runs for 2 weeks.
Have you got something specific on your wish list?

Thanks, Janel! I wanted to get one of the Eames management chairs, but just talked to DWR and they said they don't have swatches of the fabrics available--not even in the stores. So frustrating!

Anne:
Check out www.officedesigns.com - they're in Northbrook and I just got a mini-catalog from them in the mail. They seem to have a large selection of Herman Miller/Eames and they have a good discount already in place - not just a limited time sale.

Hello Chicago! I'm thinking of purchasing a sofa from CB2 but am hesitant seeing I can't sit on it from Santa Monica. By chance has anyone sat on the Shelter Sofa? Is it comfy? How about the fabric choices? I'm thinking of getting it in the natural. I'm in an apartment and am searching for a smaller sofa with clean lines and this may be the one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
