25 Ways to Get Ahead for the Holidays by Real Simple

20071113todo.jpgLet's make a list! Or we could just use the one Real Simple provides on their website. RS offers a thorough and varied list of 25 things do right now to make sure your holiday season is, well, real simple.

While some suggestions are a little silly:

#8 Fill a tote with a few festive pieces—a pair of heels, an evening bag, sparkly earrings—and stash it in the car or at work so you’re always ready for a party without having to stop at home first.

Other ideas are pretty smart and might just whip up a little holiday spirit...

3. Order stamps.

9. Organize your table linens. If you don’t have enough of one color or pattern, don’t run around town trying to fill in the blanks. Try alternating complementary colors, then strategically select the floral arrangement.

10. Start a holiday binder. Things to keep track of: recipes you make each year and new ones; gift lists; receipts and printouts of online orders.

20. Plan a playlist with classic holiday CDs.

23. Have a trial-run dinner.

I already have my binder out. This weekend I worked on addressing cards. Can you tell I am holiday obsessive?

Anyway, I wanted to share the template I use each year for my Christmas/Holiday binder. It's from FamilyFun.com
