5 Things to Organize With Ice Cube Trays

5-27-08icecubetray.jpg

Sometimes the most common objects are the best problem solvers, like ice cube trays. Tucked inside a drawer or box, they can organize a multitude of small things...

• Ice cube trays are great for sorting jewelry, especially earrings.
• Store one in a drawer by your entryway and use it to sort pocket change.
• Inside a tool box, it's the ideal organizer for screws and nails.
• Use one in an office for paperclips, binder clips, rolls of stamps, and thumbtacks.
• Use them in a medicine cabinet for bobby pins, safety pins, or other odds and ends.

Bonus: They're stackable space savers.

a great idea for dressers with the top small (but too small!) vanity/jewellry drawers!

These are good. I like the cupcake pans, too, for slightly larger items (and, here, U'm talking about the soft silicone pans). In fact, at a TJ Maxx HomeGoods I found this really cool bright green, low, segmented silicone cake pan shaped like an alligator; it's real useful for watches, cufflinks, change, etc., yet still looks like a crocodile. And they were all REAL cheap.

Great idea but I think I'd prefer the cupcake tin. Or a mini muffin tin would be nice if one could find a tin with lots of pans in it. I find ice cube trays really ugly and wouldn't even want them in a drawer. It's all I can do to make ice in them (but I do).

I second the egg carton idea - one variety of Egglands Best eggs come in a clear, plastic carton which is a little more visually appealing than an ice cube tray. I have one in one of my bathroom drawers right now that works great at holding earrings & rings!
