After posting kitchen organization items for the bedroom, we started to think about the many ways we've seen the classic kitchen rail used throughout the home. In bathrooms, workspaces and closets, kitchen rails can provide just the right amount of storage without eating up floor or counter space. Click below for 8 areas in your home where the IKEA Grundtal rail or Asker rack could come in handy...
AT: Boston featured two great uses for the Grundtal towel rail: Use it as (1) garden storage in an outdoor area, or (2) a place to hang your coats in an entryway.
AT: LA's post on Going Vertical suggests using a kitchen rail to (3) organize your workspace, or (4) keep your bathroom sink uncluttered.
Kitchen racks and pot hooks work well as bag, belt, and scarf hangers in (5) a bedroom closet, or (6) a closet-less room that needs a rail for hanging up clothes.
This photo of Degerkas' sewing room from the Fall Cure shows that kitchen storage works well for (7) craft supplies. You can also use a traditional or magnetic kitchen rack in the (8) garage to organized tools.

I have the rails in my bathroom, actually. And in my studio. They're fantastic for organizing the items you really want within arm's reach, but want to be clean and neat.

I always liked the idea where it is used with the hooks to hang (on hangers) your next day's outfit... not that I am organized enough to lay out my next day's outfit!

Our closets have those vinyl coated wire shelves. In the broom closet I hang things (including the broom!) from them on those triangular carabiner clips from the dollar store. (If the clip doesn't fit thru whatever hole or hook the item has, I make a wire loop or something to link them.)

I use a rail in my bedroom under a large mirror to hold cosmetics, hair-ties, stray jewelry, etc.

I use three of Ikea's Bygel rods (and some ikea S-hooks), hung on the ceiling above my stove, as a hanging pot rack because the ceiling in my kitchen is too low for a normal pot rack. It works really well and was cheap cheap cheap.
