apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Aki Umbrella Stand

Perfect for bringing some color to your entryway. The Aki (japanese for autumn) umbrella stand by Rudolfo Bonetto is modern, geometric, simple and smart.

The Aki's shape is low profile enough to not take up much precious space in an entryway and the colors keep it from being overly serious and utilitarian.

2006-10-03-akiinuse.jpgAt our apartment, We use a tall basket to hold our bike helmets (three) and umbrellas (two full size and 3 compact) by the door. We like the storage capacity of the basket, which magically seems to expand to also hold mittens, hats and scarves (lots!) during the winter.

Whatever the solution, its nice to have a place where things like umbrellas "belong". It makes it far easier to get out the door on time, which is always a good thing, especially on a rainy morning.

Aki Umbrella Stand, $150., at 2modern.

am I the only one who was scandalized when they interrupted Heroes for a weather report?

No, I believe I went, "aww, aww!" with the hand motioning and whatnot.
