The end of the Cure is so close we can taste it and, really, the only part left is the fun stuff. We know that this rewarding process has taken a lot out of you but, you must admit, it was worth it.
Throughout this intense eight-week project, you all bravely delved into the dark corners of your homes, the long-forgotten and secretive voids that seem to suck the air (as well as towels, golf clubs, old pants and crayons) right out of the room. Yes, we're talking about...our closets.
But there's no need to shudder at the thought of these useful spaces anymore! You've conquered them with deftness and precision. You may have a few battle wounds but we also know you have some great stories. So, Curers, pat yourself on the back and tell us...
We didn't fully cure our home this time around but we did tackle a long-overdue closet cleaning project. After we had pulled out all the contents, we faced our empty space and saw that it wasn't quite empty. Leaning in the corner, behind where our heavy winter coats used to be, was a pool cue. Say what?

Hahaha! I didn't really fully cure my apartment this time around either, but I've been making slow but steady progress on the black hole that was my bedroom closet for the past two months. Last couple nights have been spent tackling the final box of "stuff", mostly memorabilia from the past 7 years or so.
The strangest thing I found was one of those Mickey Mouse Club hats with the ears, with my name on it, that I absolutely never remember owning or wearing as a child. I guess my mom snuck it in during a move and I hadn't looked at it since.
I'm so relieved to be almost done with my closet. It's not perfect, but it's a vast improvement, and I know I won't dread dealing with it next time I move, either. It's so much more functional now, too, since I'm not worried about being swept away by an avalanche of stuff when I open the door!

I took out everything in my little closet and on the back wall, stuck in a shelf support, was a tiny little voodoo doll. I make them for sale, so it's not like I haven't seen it before, but I didn't put it there. My husband swears he didn't either (and I believe him) and it too high for my 4 yr old to have done it. I don't know how it got there.
I decided to leave it there- but it sort of freaked me out......

Well Lorijo, that is sort of freaky.
I went through all of our paper work and recycled/shred 2 huge boxes of un-needed paper work. The very last box I sorted through was an uncash check for $600 from 2 years ago made out to my husband. Earlier that week we had gotten a phone call about the check and how it was about to go to unclaimed funds. Needless to say when the re-issued check comes, I am going to personally watch my husband sign it and then take it straight to the bank!

Nothing so dramatic as a voodoo doll or an uncashed check, but I found a pink towel stuck in the back of the bathroom shelf that I have not seen for at least 8 years, when I turned my pink bathroom into a brown bathroom.

I cured all four of my apartment closets in this past year. (I'm finishing the last part of the last one now.) I didn't find anything odd, but I did find plenty of "why was I keeping this again???" stuff, which I dutifully donated or threw away. Now I find myself looking in the closets whenever I pass, just 'cause I like how organized and streamlined they are.

Oh, and I shred so many old receipts, etc. that I actually burned out the motor on my favorite Michael Graves shredder! ;-(

Hmmm. I only have three closets for the house (in addition to the clothes closet in each bedroom) and I actually only cleaned out one of them. I found a Christmas present that should have been exchanged for a larger size (kind of made me feel awful, all that wasted money) and a detachable hood for a winter coat long gone.
Oh, and I finally tossed my favourite winter coat with the burned hole in it.

Off the subject, but where was the comforter/duvet on this bed purchased? Who is the designer? Please let me know. Thanks.

I once found the TV remote I'd been missing for 2 years in a coat pocket.
