Colored Lacquer Boxes from West Elm

4-7-08boxes.jpg

We love using lacquer boxes to inject a shot of color into a room. These new lacquer boxes from West Elm come in a bright blue and a pumpkin-colored orange...

At $9 - $19, they're an inexpensive way to add some interest to a desktop, console table, or coffee table. These are available through the Internet and Catalog only. Click here for more information.

I visited West Elm for the first time this week. One of the items I made sure to check out was their lacquer boxes. I love lacquer in all forms but I found West Elm's boxes to feel extremely cheap.

They say that they are lacquer but really they are a poor imitation of a lacquer finish. Obviously for $9, you can not get real lacquer, but these pieces are hardly worth half of what they're charging. I'll keep looking elsewhere for quality lacquer pieces.

(Yes, I know these boxes aren't in stores. However, I assume they are similar to the ones in the stores except in different shapes and colors.)
