Decluttering Your Files

10-31-07filestorage.jpg

The trick is to limit your storage space (at least for us). Last week, we went through our files and ruthlessly tossed anything we didn't absolutely need into the recycling bin. It worked! We downsized from 2 metal files cabinets to just a few desktop storage boxes.

Our space feels a lot lighter, and we're so happy to be rid of those file cabinets! (We donated them to the good old Salvation Army.)

What are your tricks for decluttering files?

I scan my papers and archive them on a portable hard drive. Its much easier than rummaging through a file drawer when you need to find something.
