apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Hangers.com

062608wooden.jpg062408hangerslogo.jpgWooden hangers, metal hangers, plastic hangers, fabric hangers, cedar hangers, bamboo hangers.
We read about Hangers.com in an AT Chicago thread (we can't remember where, but a reader suggested it!)...and we also know how many of you feel about using good hangers. We feel the same...

062608metal.jpgWith any type and style you could imagine, this seems like THE go-to place for online hanger hunting (you know, such a common pastime).

Visit the site here. Check out on-sale items here, and our favorite, a belt hanger ($14 each) here.

Prices for wood hangers start around $65.95 for a bundle of 25.

I have been shopping around for nice natural wooden hangers and I found the best deal so far at Home Depot, the quality was outstanding, much better than Bed Bath and Beyond. I looked at Hangers.com also, but the price couldn't be beat at Home Depot ( 8 for 3.99).

Ikea also has nice wooden hangers for $3.49 for 8: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30025141
BUT they don't have the little divot cut out for hanging strappy tops/dresses.

Wooden hangers all the way. I keep my slips and dresses from sliding off by putting a thick rubber on each end or "shoulder" of the hanger. The rubber will keep the straps from sliding off.

hehe... ashleyjane... do you mean a rubber band?

...or did your hangers go to a school that teaches safe sex instead of abstinence?

I suggested Hangers.com! My husband and I purchased a couple hundred hangers from them about a two years ago when we reorganized our closets. Definitely a life changing purchase. http://flickr.com/photos/mviamontes/367539138/in/set-72157594496738668/

@closertotheocean -
I don't know. ashleyjane might be onto something. My hangers seem to reproduce, especially the cheaper ones! And when they decide to tangle together in a laundry basket orgy -- oh my!

Thanks apartment therapy for this tip! I've been searching for cedar hangers for my new closet and they have 50 hangers for 200 dollars which I belive is very affordable. Cedar is really great in closets.

I invested in some nice wooden hangers from hangers.com when I last moved - completely changed the look and feel of my closet and every day makes me feel MUCH more organized trying to get dressed in the morning...

all joking aside... it is better to be safe than sorry. use protection.

oh, wait, that's not what i meant to say....

all joking aside, i will be buying about 40 wooden hangers when i move in august... but here's the thing... hangers.com appears cheaper, but i think with shipping i'm better off just buying them at Ikea on a trip i already intend to make (so the gas cost doesn't really matter). and i can always carve some notches for straps...

...or use a rubber.

wow... i'm an idiot. and after 4 years of college, still can't do basic math. the ikea hangers are WAY cheaper. go me. well, that solves that. but hangers.com is a great option for anyone who doesn't have a big blue swede in their neighborhood!

This post reminded me I need to start replacing my hangers so I picked up a box of 24 wooden hangers (w/notches for straps)at Target yesterday for $12.96.
