Hat Boxes as a Catch-All

9-11-07hatboxes.jpg

For many years, we've used hat boxes as an alternative to the junk drawer. They're inexpensive, pretty and they look good stacked on a dresser. When it comes time to clean them out, we dump them on a table and sort the trash from the treasures.

We love these vintage tomato-red boxes from P.O.S.H. ($15 each). They'd be a great way to bring a shot of color into a space while also providing small storage for jewelry in a bedroom, dishes in a kitchen or even spare cords in an office.

Lush sells a bunch of their bath product gift sets in hat boxes. They make a lovely way to store extra bathroom goods:

Great idea! That'd be wonderful sewing storage on my new dresser/sewing machine table. :)

A few years ago I called to enquire on Buffalo China availability and was surprised to get a recording, sending me to voice mail. After leaving three messages in a two week period and no reply, I gave up. Last Summer I went in with my friend who was purchasing some gifts and we were sadly dissapointed with the snobish demeanor of the staff. We still bought some items but I doubt I will patronize their business again.
