Organizing the Bathroom with Household Items

ReadyMade 03.2008

Since we're focusing on cleaning and organization this month, we thought we'd pull one of our favorite ideas from the ReadyMade archives. We especially like this bathroom project because it reuses old items in new ways...

• The towel hooks are made from valves mounted to the walls with screws.
• Bath products are stored inside the medicine cabinet with mason jars.
• The bathroom art is a framed washable tea towel, which won't be ruined by humidity.
• A used coffee can is repurposed as a tissue holder.
• Our favorite idea: an automobile side mirror is used as a space-saving soap holder.

Great towel hooks. Love the red against white. I agree with jen_g about good use of magnetic spice holder.

Oh, ReadyMade... What a great idea, since I had so many antique car mirrors sitting around that I didn't know what to do with! Now I remember why I stopped buying this magazine.

ouch, margochats. just a little sarcastic there, eh? i think part of the idea is to start thinking outside the box and to look at things with a fresh eye instead of only seeing their typical purpose/utility. the other part of the idea is that if you really like it, how hard can it be to find an old car mirror?
