Printable Checklists from MarthaStewart.com

Browsing the Martha Stewart website today, we noticed a new (or at least new to us) feature: the "Checklist Center." For those who love to-do lists, this might be your dream come true...

We found ourselves downloading most of the cleaning PDFs to our computer desktop to prepare for our annual fall cleaning process. There are also helpful to-do lists if you're moving, throwing a party, stocking a kitchen, or pulling together a home safety kit. While we sometimes find ourselves annoyed with the over-the-top "must-do's" in Martha's repertoire, we found these lists refreshingly short and sweet.

SHOWN ABOVE
1 Monthly Cleaning Checklist
2 How to Stock a Home Bar
3 All-Occasion Party Planner
4 How to Stock a Utility Closet
5 Preparing for Houseguests

I'm not a list person, but I have a feeling I could use some...especially to get my husband on-board with sharing the cleaning responsibilities. But then I do have more time...so that never happens. Well I shouldn't say never. :)

People who say they don't like Martha Stewart have no idea, I believe, what a huge help she has been to domestically-challenged renters and homeowners. What she offers the public for free has real value in contribution to quality of life, timesavings, economy.

Avianmission....I totally agree. She really has been an inspiration for a lot of people. Even if you don't follow her ideas to a 'T' (it can be a little much at times)...some ideas stick and you find yourself doing them. She has helped make housekeeping and creating an attractive home fashionable at a time when such ideas were scorned.

LAME. lame, lame, lame. Useless. and LAME.

I looked at the moving checklist because I'm moving in a month and this list was so useless that I wondered how it gets any airplay at all.

Sorry, but you'd have to be a moron to not get things like 'weed out what you don't need.' Ok, there are people who will pack everything and then weed when they unpack. But this list was not made for those people because those people are not the kind of people who go looking for useful moving lists.

Here's what would be helpful. Under 'obtain several estimates from movers' there should have been tips like identify reputable movers, schedule time for them to come to your home and give you an estimate. Decide what you will pack and what you need them to pack. Understand that items you pack yourself may not be insurable. Buy more packing material than you think you will need, and return unused/unopened materials.

useful materials:
Bubble wrap
Newsprint
Tape that identifies the room the box goes into
plain packing tape (you don't need to waste a lot of expensive labeling tape for the entire box -- just use it for flagging! and plain tape is 1/2 the price)
Boxes (don't pack heavy things in large boxes!!)
Markers
Ziplock baggies of every size -- packers dream!!

etc etc etc.

I love lists, but the Martha commercial machine is just a waste of time.

Real Simple has them too -

Some are better than others. Many are just kind of silly.

These lists are so retarded. Like I'm some freaking Stepford wife who walks around the house with a clipboard. I'm lucky if I leave the house with clean underwear on.
