This week during the Spring Cure we're looking into landing strips: those small spaces in an apartment where the outside world gets sorted into an organized, manageable system. We'll be featuring some inspiring landing strips on AT over the next few days, but we thought we'd start with the simplest possible solution...
...a few wall hooks. It's surprising how much you can do with wall hooks. Hanging a couple in an entryway can give you space for a bag, coat, scarf, keys, and umbrella. Choose a spot on the floor for shoes (or hang them up by the laces), add a mail sorter, and you're all set.

I'm really not loving the term "landing strip". A little too cute/annoying for me. Is that seriously what we're all calling it now?
Oh well, I like the hooks idea anyway...

goodnightdean - that's from orla kiely, source of all things good in the world (i may be exaggerating a tiny bit). but it looks like it may be from a previous season.

I thought a landing strip should accomodate mail and a bit of filing like bills to pay and invitations. This doesn't really seem to hold much at all.

Hanging shoes by their laces means you're faced with shoes as you walk past. How on earth could this be a good thing?
