Last year, we asked if you used coasters and the LARGE majority of responses were yes. We ran across these black (or green) coasters from Purpose Design and loved their multi-functionality. Instead of one use, they have (at least!) three...

The standard function is as a coaster, of course.

They are magnetized, so they can be stored on your fridge and can be pressed into service holding up the grocery list (or as shown, can simply BE the grocery list).

And, because they have a chalkboard finish, they can also work as place cards at the table.

A set of 4 is $15 and a set of 6 is $22. They are made with a special UV coated vinyl which chalk wipes off of with a damp cloth. The backing is cork, with a tiny, strong magnet embedded in it.

I wasn't here to vote yeah on the coasters. I don't know what it is about them being all pretty cute and an easy way to make a finished look in small details, as well as keep the drips and rings off the furniture. I do like these too. The front and back doors to my apartment are metal... I'm not a magnet "freak" per se, but I do enjoy finding something cool to put there. I can see me getting these.
