Unexpected Linen Closets
A wardrobe works well. The Island Wardrobe (left, $2,990) and Bay Wardrobe (right, $2,890) are from Maine Cottage. Get the look for less by painting a thrift store find.
A storage bench can hide out almost anywhere: in an entryway, at the foot of a bed, under a windowsill. This is the Cube Cutout Storage Bench from West Elm ($239 - $349).
Put small blankets and sheets in a shoe cabinet. It has a small footprint and just a little bit of depth. These are from IKEA: Sandnes ($129), Trones ($39.99), and Innvik ($79.99).
It's not hard to find a good-looking sideboard, and credenzas are so multi-functional that they work almost anywhere. I just don't have any extra linen. This is not a strategy I recommend for anyone who has overnight guests or dries their towels on a clothesline.

My current apartment has no place in the bathroom to store extra linens and no viable spot for a towel shelf (plus the cat would try to find a way to get up there to nap).
I've been searching for a set of drawers that can pull double-duty as being the linen/towel storage area and the gathering/dropoff point for pocket items (wallets, keys, etc) when entering or exiting the apartment.
