Using Wooden Crates as Planters and Organizers

Swedish site Alvhem does a great job of staging apartments for sale. One of the details we've noticed is the way they use wooden crates for a variety of jobs, from garden planters to bookshelves...

These photos demonstrate ways to repurpose a crate as a floor planter, a windowbox, a bench that doubles as a bookshelf, and a magazine organizer. For step-by-step instructions on transforming a crate into a functional planter, see this post; for tips on making bookshelves out of crates, click here; and for other ideas on using crates at home, click here.

These days, they are being sold in "flea" markets and such for $20 a piece. It's a bit harder to find them for cheap/free now....

You can find them in antique stores around here. We stash yarn in one.
