Look!: Hosewares by Chase DeForest

20080813hose11.jpgWho knew a garden hose could look so plush? Chase DeForest is a Denver-based sculptor who's buying more supplies at the garden shop than an art store.

20080813hose14.jpgWe took these photos while visiting the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver. Defined as an "emerging artist" by the Festival, Chase DeForest's specialty seems to be the candy-colored hose baskets held together with zip ties.

20080813hose13.jpgShe also added the garden touch to this small sideboard. We love the detail of the nozzle handles (which passed our durability test).

20080813hose12.jpgThe baskets might get a lot of the glory but we also really like her chairs. They'd be great on a patio, of course, but we can see the cool color combos working in a dining room too.

Contact the artist through her website for prices on these products or to discuss your own custom commission.

This looks like a great way to recycle old leaky hoses.

Great recycling idea, though the hoses look suspiciously new. It wouldn't be terribly hard to make the basket yourself, though.
