Shade Sails

2006-06-09-shadesails2.jpg

Choose your own shady spot. These pre-made sail shades come in triangles, right triangles and squares of high density shade material. We've always liked the look of them, but figured they would be super-pricey. Not so - prices range from $129.99 for at 12' triangle to $309.95 for a 18' square.

They can be stretched between trees, posts and buildings from the D-ring at each corner. The seamless extra wide fabric these are made from comes in seven colors. The same site also provides photos of residential installations, sample layouts and sells the installation hardware.

Thanks, Janel! I had bookmarked these at GAIAM but there's so much more information about how to get them up at the manufacturer's link you give.

Just what my bare roofdeck needs!

You can get them for cheaper (fewer color choices though!) from www.overstock.com. The 12' square costs $79.99 and the 12' triangle is for $69.99.

And you can buy them even cheaper at Ikea. We saw them there this weekend, in both triangles and squares. They came in solid white and a fun, summery stripe pattern. The pic in this link doesn't do them justice--they felt really high quality and the stripes were very bright.
