Table in a Bag from Crate & Barrel

060807tablebag.jpgGood weather and the promises of outdoor life (finally!!) reminded us of this table in a bag we discovered last year at a friend's BBQ. Everyone at the BBQ left wanting one - a great piece to keep in the car, use regularly outside at home, or have on hand for trips to the park and Ravinia or Millennium Park outings.

The owners of the table in a bag highly recommended it for ease of set-up, lightweight transport, and well-functioning design. We didn't buy one then, but keep thinking about it now.

Anyone else have the table in a bag or have thoughts on it as a concept?

Available at Crate and Barrel for $39.95.

This is perfect for people who have small outdoor spaces that would be too cluttered by having a table of that size taking up permanent residence. Good find!

I think this, coupled with the fold-up camping chair, are the two staples at any outdoor concert (Ravinia, Tanglewood, etc.). I've had mine for almost 10 years now (bought at Crate & Barrel) and it's still going strong. We've used it just about everywhere including the beach, campsite, living room and the aforementioned outdoor concert. Just unroll and screw on the legs! (Boy, this makes me sound like some kind of pusher or infomercial...)

I have this table for my deck and it's PERFECT!!! it's about the height of a coffeetable so, when surrounded by chairs, makes an excellent place for drinks, snacks and bug-candles.

Also, it's perfect for festival season! With the Blues Fest this weekend in Chicago, I plan on taking it out and setting it up for food and drinks.

Awesome size and weight for what it is - it's a beautiful table that just pops up unexpectantly and fits in the trunk of my VW Bug magnificently.

Wow. I think it probably doesn't say anything complimentary about my intelligence that I think this concept is freaking brilliant.

This is what's always been known in my family as the "Ravinia Table".

A couple of us have them and we put them together for one large table to spread the feast out on.

i saw this in the catalog, and love the red lantern (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=12500&f=27294) too!

my only question is the weight. it'll be great to bust out at the park and at the lake when we camp, but is it heavy enough that the wind won't lift it away from beneath at the beach this summer?

At the risk of sounding like a shill for C&B, we bought this table last summer and use it on the deck all the time. The grown ups sit at one table and the kids sit around this table. We have round cushions for them to sit on and they love it. The table is surprisingly sturdy, and it's nice to be able to put it away when the guests have left. It's comfortable for adults as well and seems heavy enough that you would need a pretty strong wind to blow it away. OK, so I do sound like a shill. But it's still a useful piece.

I think you can get tables like that at Target as well.

I've used this as my coffee table for a couple of years now. I've never been able to commit to having a permanent table blocking my living room, so I pull this out whenever I have a sewing project, or I'm having a party. Then just roll it back up and stick it under the bed.

I've been looking for a kid's table for our beach side wedding. This is perfect! And the best part is that I already have it, but forgot about it!

That's the best kind of shopping. :)

Cassidy06, I looked on the Target site but don't see it. Do you know what they call it? I looked out in the garage and mine is split. (bummer) It would be cool if I could get a good deal on a replacement.

Love, love, love this table! I use it all the time at Ravinia too.

It also makes a great quick fix if you need extra space when you're entertaining. I spread out a vinyl tablecloth on the floor (to catch the spills) and set it up for little ones visiting. They like the idea of having a picnic indoors. I like the quick clean up! :)
