Found on global home site Normal Room, this courtyard garden in Sydney was beautiful before its renovation, but it's even better now...

...with the addition of a new deck and modern outdoor furniture. We especially love the way the deck curves up into the side wall of the garden. Browsing through the photo set, it seems as though the trees in the back of the garden have been preserved, and the deck has been built over the previous patio. The new version is really beautiful, but I'd have kept the tree lights.

very gorgeous! I'd even settle for my backyard looking like the before!

It would be nice to know the cost of this. Does anyone have any idea? I have a yard about half the size bigger than this.

Gorgeous, but not sure how I feel about the curving wall... I also miss having a little bit of the brick -- perhaps where the curving wall is. Really like the different levels -- like the little "bridge" in the back.

Nice transformation, but those chairs look sooo uncomfortable!!

It looked better before. All it needed was a few chairs, maybe a sofa.
Now its looks like it's been shrink-wrapped in that awful "wood-grained" plastic decking.

I think you'll find that that's a vagary of the photography, killfile. 99% of decks in Australia are made from native (or Asian) hardwood.
I dislike it more than I like it. The misaligned steps are a clever way to centre the path onto the deck, but other aspects of the design seem to have been included because they're trendy, rather than suitable for the space. I love the idea of decks curving into walls, but as it's used here it makes this space look unbalanced. Also the chairs are too big and the Spanish Moss is hideous.
Having said that, this is clearly a work in progress, so they may be planning some more changes which will fix the flaws. Certainly once that planter on the bottom left is clad to match the koi pond it will help unify the space.

The after is nice but I like the before much better.

Nice, but I loved the texture of the brick. Love how it gets mossy and worn.

I think they're both nice but achieve different results. The 'before' had more of a patio feel, and the 'after' feels more like an indoor room outside. I think because I've almost always lived in 4-season climates, the indoor room outside is a concept I just can't fully embrace even when it looks great.

They're both nice but I think I like the before a wee bit more. It's more earthy. But...picking weeds out of a brick patio does get tiresome so I can understand the desire for a wood deck.

The deck is nice but the home is beautiful. Nice job!

I'm with the others who said they like the before picture better. I think it has a little more character than the after pic.

I miss the brick :(. It adds a lot of character, especially with the cute tree lights.
However, the renovation is beautifully done. The steps are really cool, and the furniture is great. I also love the white pots, they are great!!
