Colored Thread Globe Lights
La Case de Cousin Paul in Paris

Apartment Therapy reader whitneyhtown sourced the colorful globe lights from this post for us...

0603_Paul02.jpgSays whitneyhtown:

I have those lights from Paris! There was a tiny store in Montmarte, and all they sold was the lights in a huge variety of colors. They are made of colored thread wound into a ball shape, and I think you could make them yourself.

See the globes, called Fancy Lights, at La Case de Cousin Paul and even custom-compose your own string of them right here.

Also, don't miss the shop's back story. It's laced with adventure, love, and happiness, which really shines through in the end product.

I think these are similar, if not the same:

I have lights from this store in Paris too! They were one of the few things that I carried with me back to the US. The store was delightful. I got the little balls in white, lime green, yellow and red, and I strung them on a normal white strand of Christmas lights. I actually bunched mine up inside an oversized cylindar vase, and use it as a lamp in my office. I'm so excited to see this post!

There is a whole store of these lights on Fillmore in SF. I don't remember the name of it, but I think one strand is about $20.

There is also a "global exchange" store on 24th that has them sometimes - they are strung outside of the shop permanently. :)

Yay for the lights! Mine came squashed in half since I was traveling, and I had to poke them into ball shapes with a chopstick.

I'm confused, with the French ones do you just ball the balls and use them on your own set of lights? Or, did you buy the whole set? Thanks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

When in Paris two years ago, I went into this shop and absolutely loved it.

I remembered it recently and have been trying to remember or research the name of the shop so I could place an order for lights for my new flat.

I have just bought two sets this morning. Thanks so much!

The string of lights that comes with the balls is for European outlets, so you could either get an adaptor or use lights from the US. The string it comes with is unique, though, because it's actually a connected circle of lights instead of a straight line.
