We have plain old vertical bars on our stair rails. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we often see highly ornamental, even "Baroque", wrought iron rails. But what about a decorative rail with a clean geometric design?...

These balcony rails, spotted by Spacing Montreal, have a 3D cubic design that pops right out at you. We love that someone got creative and came up with a special geometric design for this otherwise average building.
Oh wow! That is very cool and interesting!

I like that the design is echoed somewhat on the shutters. It would be nice if they could add a pop or two of color on the door or around the windows too.

Sadly, these railings no longer comply with the Canadian building code. The horizontal and diagonal bars are "climbing surfaces" that a kid could use to go up and over the railing.

although I find these railings cool and interesting I dont think they're very pretty

Like the railing, but hate the way they did the stairway railing. The supports are 90 degrees to the plane of the stairs instead of being plumb and it just looks like it's going to fall over. That always bugs me.

I don't think you can use railings like this in most (possibly all) US buildings either - I think they don't meet building codes for most areas.

If it's not building code for railings, maybe the design could be used for window bars. It's a really neat design.

They look great! I would love them as a screen in our garden.

I love them! I live in Hungary, and thankfully we have building codes that would allow something like this.
By the way, is it just my eyes or is that front door really, really wide? Or is it two doors?

What they lack in safety....they gain in a very unique style.

I like them, but probably would work better with a different facade.
