Horizontal Stripes, Part II

102607candystripe.jpg

Yesterday we polled you to find out your thoughts on horizontal stripes for walls. About half of you responded that they were hot! Another half of you felt varying degrees of "not"...and we're wondering if a different look would change your opinion. Compared to yesterday's room, we thought that maybe this one (above) would elicit a different response. Click below the jump to compare the horizontal styles.

I love them. I was going to do a horizontal strip in my bathroom, but then I realized that my 1920's plaster is so terribly uneven that there would be no way that I could make the line not wobbly. So I opted not to.

After this year's fall colors contest I've decided I absolutely hate striped walls. They look even worse with artwork that is hung on top of them with complete disregar to the stripes themselves. However, I think these examples work. In the first, the stripes are the primary design element and also sort of match the wood floor. In the second, I think they're really important to the sort of classical greek feel of the room and carry you from one part of the room to another.

sorry, but it's just too circus-y for me. sort of like, "hey look at me, i'm whimsical." (i'm sure a lot of people could come up with some pretty similarly damning things to say about my space, but that wasn't the question...)

I love the blue stripes but was wondering if they would be too much for a two story wall. Have any suggestions for stripes or other painting ideas on a high wall?? I also love the table and charis in the picture where are they from??
