I would love to whitewash my bedrooms wide plank beautiful hardwoods. But, I'm scared.

Teeze, I can understand your fears because whitewashing a hardwood floor is a real commitment. Maybe you could try a white, painted floorcloth for a while over the wood floor to see if the shiny, painted effect you think you want is really going to work? Otherwise, maybe just mentally commit to sanding and refinishing the floors if you ever decide to sell your home?
