Sometimes you just need to slow down. When you're overloaded with work or other obligations, your home is hopefully a place where you can relax. For those who need some time to unwind, we've compiled a list of ways to find moments of escape from the daily grind...
• Cultivate silence by taking a short break every day to do absolutely nothing.
• Learn how to meditate in the bathtub.
• Sit back, relax and enjoy some good music.
• Clean your bedroom, then take a nap in your laundered sheets.
• Turn off the TV, close your laptop, and take a media fast.
• Plant a container garden or get some herbs going.
• Take a few days off and enjoy a vacation at home.
• Transform a corner into a reading nook.
• Have a couple of friends over for a movie or game night.
• Pour yourself a glass of wine and cook a meal of comfort food.
How do you chill out at home? Let us know in the comments below.

Great post Sarah.
"Clean your bedroom, then take a nap in your laundered sheets."
This is my favorite relax at home activity!

Clean your bedroom, then take a nap in your laundered sheets. Yes, yes and yes. With the bedroom windows wide open and fresh air coming in ! I wanna go back to bed now.
Also love to sit on the patio outside, in the sun, reading a good book drinking a glass of rosé.

I try to always sit down to dinner with my partner at the dining table. Otherwise I find myself eating on the sofa while on my laptop doing work, which is not restful at all.

Cook something delicious and soothing while listening to some favorite music and enjoying an adult beverage.

Straightening up the living room, putting the classical music or jazz channel on the television, and reading a good book for an hour. soooo relaxing.

I'm always amazed at how many people have some sort of cleaning routine built into their relaxation. My relaxation normally involves not cleaning. Thursday or Friday, I generally need a night off from cleaning.
But then again, I consider repotting relaxing. Cooking, too, although it depends on what. It should be fairly simple and frivolous and very tasty. Making dinner after a busy day is sometimes not relaxing, but making fudge sauce late Sunday night (no pun intended) is.

Sometimes when our routine feels mundane we like to take an evening to relax and have a vacation in our home. We watch a movie and stay in our guest room for the night. Kind of silly but it is new and fun!

Oh! I love the idea of vacationing by staying in our own guest room! Thanks, Jessimarie, I am going to do that soon.
We're lucky enough to live in an apartment complex that has a tennis court, a pool and a hot tub, and nobody EVER uses them - including us. There is no reason we can't treat our own home as our own personal resort for a weekend. And then maybe we'll pack a camera and check out the local sites. But I'd never considered staying in the guest room, which is all kinds of awesome.

Great post...perfect timing! Though this deviates a little from the list...when I'm working from home, I often need to get OUT of the house. In those cases, a walk around the neighborhood helps me to relax.

Some things I do is nap to Jazz when I can (or rather think about it) I did this not too long ago to some John Coltrane via the PC in the bedroom and it was very nice.
Spending part of an afternoon or evening doing not much more than sitting and listening to music, did that not long ago to the vinyl grooves of Steely Dan
Just sitting and thinking (which I do all the time)
And of course, long walks throughout my neighborhood and surrounding environments, that always helps, often with camera

And I should also say, getting inspired and cooking something delish, even if an old standby, Tuna Casserole.
