We have a very small dog (kitten-sized actually) who does like to snuggle up somewhere cozy and enclosed now and then. So, even though we are not experienced in the ways of felines, we can see how this would be very appealing to a pet and it doesn't look bad (unlike LOTS of cat condos out there). The price...
... which is $29.95 for a three-floor habitat (and 3 free cardboard Tumblorz toys) seems reasonable.
It is a sustainable design, made in the USA and is printed with soy-based inks. Their site assures that it is made from super strong double wall corrugated and has been enjoyed by kittens, cats, and mature larger breeds - it will definitely support a large cat.

That's actually very cute! I hate cat condos (they're hideous and overpriced), but this one I could live with. Plus, I have a puppy and two kitties, so they'd each have their own space! :D (would never happen!)

this is nice, but if you have a tubby cat or multiple cats that cuddle, the cardboard will start to sag. Maybe there's a away to reinforce cardboard.

I'd need reinforced cardboard, my cats are large.

Not for kitties with a penchant for gnawing and tearing cardboard.
Actually, this would be the perfect condo for just such cats, but not as ideal for their owners shelling out $30 for three cardboard boxes.

how about that cabinet in the background...anybody know where I could get one?

Oh...good point. My orange jerk cat has a habit of gnawing on cardboard.

This design makes a better DIY project. Not to mention this thing may not look too objectionable when new, but in my house it would end up shredded and ratty the more my cats used it. Recycle it, then repeat.

Cute idea. but I'm pretty sure our obese 19lb. beast would bring this thing crashing down in a heartbeat. Course no cat should be that fat, but you want to see grouchy, try reducing his portions. It's scary.

I am impressed by that huge plant in the corner. It is picturesque!

Well, I like it. Our cats go crazy for cardboard boxes and paper bags. I could try and make it, but I think it would be harder than it looks.
It's the most sustainable, affordable cat "condo" I have come across, plus I think there are ample opportunities to color it, paint it, or wallpaper it for it to fit in with any decor.
P.S. Orange cats are known to be more feisty and active than other cats. Still, our orange cat doesn't really chew on things. He's 15 lbs, but needs to lose 2 to avoid diabetes, so I think he'd be fine in it.

I'd absolutely get at least one, to see if it's feasible to DIY. Then I'd put one upstairs and one downstairs, for our 15-lb cats. (Not fat, just very big!) They loooove boxes, and they loooove to shred cardboard.
But trust me, I'd rather have them shredding $30 worth of cardboard any day than my beloved red puffy (more than $30) couch.
Around Christmas, we had a cardboard box from a parcel- the cats actually pulled a few sheets of tissue paper into it, and spent weeks playing in the box. It was a mess by the end, but the whole mess was in the box- shredded paper, shed fur, catnip mice.
If it makes them happy, I won't argue.

Candace: I know all about grouchy cats on diets! Did you know that most prescription cat food is lower calorie than even the diet versions in the pet store? My vet recommended that I put my obese baby on this prescription dental diet which just happens to also be low calorie, so now I can feed her enough to stop her from being a hungry brat. It's improved the quality of both of our lives.

I just get empty frozen chicken boxes from Sam's club. Then I get throw pillows from Ikea ($4) or Walmart (2 for $5 recently) and put them in the box. Presto - cat bed for the price of a cheap throw pillow. They are stackable and disposable when they begin to sag too much or get clawed terribly.
Granted, they don't look great, but if your cats don't claw like mine do, you could cover them with wrapping paper and make them fit any decor.

I can just imagine coming home to a whole lotta little cardboard pieces all around the house. My cat is a big fan of shredding and chewing on cardboard.
I'd honestly rather have slightly ugly than cardboard that'll be a mesh everyday.
But ideally, I'd rather have this: http://www.therefinedfeline.com/lotus-cat-furniture.htm

Gosh, my little Matilda would adore this. However, it's a bit mod for my taste.
Last year I made her a cardboard "dollhouse" with little windows she could peer out of. We were all sad when she grew out of it, but I'm not sure I'm ready to throw another 5 hours into making a cat house...
When I do, though, I'll make it to match my style a little better!

My cat got one from my mom for x-mas. I thought the cardboard wouldn't hold up but it's actually quite thick and sturdy. My cat loves this thing. I put it near a window and my cat lays on the top floor in the sun. Cool cat product I think! And it's green

My cats would destroy those within 20 minutes.

But my kitty has already adopted the Fruit Punch box from my shopping trip to Aldi! It's funny, so we leave it in the kitchen for her to tuck away in. Wish my dogs would find a hidey place. They tend to want to lay in the MIDDLE of the kitchen floor. Not that I ever drop food when I'm cooking...

I love this, but it makes me think of the time the vet gave us a "cardboard pet carrier" to bring our cat in for his shots. By the time we got to the vet (20 minutes) Stevie already had a pretty good-sized hole it in to poke his head out of. Then we still had to bring him home! It would keep him entertained, though.

Cute idea.
I am not sure that they won't be knocked about by the cats jumping on and off it, though.
