After a month or so of crate training, our new dog Otto was ready for a regular, permanent dog bed. So far, he's been very happy with the one we bought him: a square pillow bed from Jax and Bones...

Otto has the classic pillow bed in Mayflower Brown, but they also sell lounge beds and outdoor beds in a wide range of patterns. The beds are 100% washable, made with cotton/poly inserts and removable, washable covers. Otto actually seems to prefer the size and firmness of his new bed even more than he likes the couch.

We purchased ours from Red Dog House in Wicker Park during their 20% off sale. The regular price for the large size is $169. For more information, visit the website of manufacturer Jax and Bones or Chicago retailer Red Dog House.
VERY nice

Otto looks real comfortable. Also the colors of the pillow go well with his own soft earth colors. He's a beauty and I think he knows it.

I was just going to ask about that dog bed! I saw a corner of it in the flash card post and was dying to know...

What a beautiful dog. And bed. But especially dog. I'm jealous, I looooove grayhounds! :) Congratulations on him.

You must really trust your dog, I've got two, the older one is great, the younger one will destroy anything if given a chance. Coming home to see a ripped up, near $200 dog bed would be just a little upsetting.

He is clearly taking his retirement seriously! Way to go, Otto!

Not to be a total ass, but we've been getting essentially the same beds from Costco for under $20 each. They make our dog smell like cedar (better than whatever he's decided to roll around in on any given day) and they last foreverâeven if they don't, they're dirt cheap.

1.5 yards of $7 IKEA fabric plus a few pillows (or some fiberfill) plus a sewing machine equals a great, customizable, durable dog bed! My greyhounds love them, and I can just throw the beds in the washing machine.
