Dog Shower Inspiration

0905_mudroom1.jpg

We've come across a few lucky souls with mudrooms at an entry to their home. A landing strip on steroids. A place to clean up and leave the outdoors behind as you enter. We've come across even fewer people with little dog showers in their mudrooms. Our favorite's up top, but we've rounded up a few other mudroom dog showers after the jump.

0905_mudroom2.jpg When you come in from a walk, simply shower off your dog and let him shake himself dry all he wants in the mudroom. Then it's on into the house without tracking in a mess.

The main components we've seen in all dog showers are a tiled finish for splashing and a handshower installed low on the wall. A low, dog-sized shower can do double duty as a convenient place to hose off dirty boots, too.

We like the bio kleen powdered detergent and use vinegar (as of the last month) in stead of rinse aid. Works well.

We used to use the 7th Gen stuff a few years back, but our crystal glasses started to get foggy. We had to run a toxic Cascade wash to get them shined up (even elbow grease didn't do the job) and since then we've used the bio kleen.

I remember seeing that dog in the dog shower before and "drooling" over the thing. Can't remember where? But as I recall the people had just redone their kitchen and mudroom and it had a ton of cool dog things built in.

In my next life I'm going to have one of these dog showers, but mine is going to be even closer to the back door so muddy paws never have to touch the floors!

Once again? "Landing strip" has a different, genital-related connotation. Please stop using it.
