Like Kittysville: Modern Pet Beds Under $100

031309-catbeds2.jpg Having been a pet owner for more years than we can count, one thing has always bugged us. The price of pet beds. It can be hard to fathom sheets for our own beds priced around the $100 mark, let alone something that's going to smell of animal in a few weeks. With this in mind, we were elated today to come across the pet beds from Like Kittysville today. Stylish, washable and best of all, under $100 (by a good amount!).

031309-catbeds1.jpg Custom orders are available using any of the fabrics from the Kittysville website, which is almost everything under the sun. Pricing ranges from $69 for a bed with a wood base to $82 for one with an acrylic base. Simply email Kittysville through their Etsy store to place your order.

031309-catbeds3.jpg This bed is great for not only cats, but small dogs as well. It's a great step up from a cardboard box without being an eye sore on your floor. The covers are washable by hand and the base separates so the two pieces can be wiped down individually.

Thanks to our friends at Design Sponge for the great heads up. You can head out and check out more pet related items all priced under $100!

Oooh, these are awesome! I've been hesitant about buying a bed for my cat, but I think this might be perfect. Relatively inexpensive and NOT ugly!
Although, I feel like I should buy MYSELF a bed frame first before I get the cat one. :P

also, it has to say something that all the cats are sitting and not sleeping comfortably...

I think my cat would really like this-- the sides to lean against, the overall slope, the open end to spill over. and it's not bad to look at.

I can see my cat sitting in it, laying in it, and then scratching the crap outta it.

I think my cat would like this too. I can definitely see this in my place. Good find!

These are so cute! I think I like my cat lying next to me though. There is something about him curling up on my bed or on my furniture. I have a very small cat (under 10 pound Munchkin breed) so that makes a difference.

There are many neat cat beds on the market. However, MY cats could care less. They "own" my bed and that's where they sleep.

I had a cat for 14 years, and he didn't have a cat bed. He slept on the foot of my son's bed, or on the back of the sofa, on top of a washable throw. To keep him from scratching the furniture, we gave him a hunk of small tree limb (5" diameter x 12" long), and when he scratched all the bark off of it, I got him another one. It stayed in the kitchen so it was easy to sweep up the shreds of bark. If you want to make you cat deliriously happy and make him think he's a big jungle cat, give him a tree limb.

These look cute, but don't look comfortable. For my two chihuahuas, I toss a queen-sized down comforter on the George Nelson daybed. That's their mid-c bed!

They love to lay on top of the comforter and burrow under it. The comforter totally detracts from the great lines of the sofa, but my babies are comfortable and very very happy to lie on such puffiness.

My two cats would never sleep in a "real" cat bed. One of them has created a sort of nest in the back of my closet in some old blankets that I was going to donate somewhere until he appropriated them. The other, more social, cat has a favorite spot in every room of the house so that she is always near my husband or me.

On a different note, I've learned that dog cushions are pretty comfortable for humans, too. I teach middle school, and I have several big floor pillows for the kids to lean back on during reading time. The one they always fight over is actually an over-sized dog cushion donated by a parent whose dog absolutely refused to go near the thing.

My cats lean towards soft and comfy, these beds do not look soft to me. I think my cats will always prefer my bed.

Cute, but I don't think my cat would go for it unless we put a bunch of random stuff on it... she prefers to sleep on piles - clothes, papers, magazines - no matter how uncomfortable it looks. Though she's also trying to appropriate my computer as a cat bed.

Under $100? Seriously? My cats favorite place to sleep are on a pile of clean clothes, or any article of my clothing for that matter. No thank you to the overpriced pet bed!

cute!
i guess my cats are odd, they love their cat bed (one of the fatboy dog beds). the run to it at night when they know its time to go to bed.

Sure, this is more for the cat owner than the cat.

I cut an old comforter in half and folded the pieces into a couple of cardboard boxes, which I then placed in front of my heating vents. My two cats love them. But, yeah, it looks pretty low-rent.

Cats don't understand design though. You'd buy this lovely little bed and she'd rather sleep on The New York Times lying on the floor.
