apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

last week I went to visit friends at my former job. They've moved into a new space and they had tons of this beaded curtain everywhere around the new showroom. It looks so modern and clean and beautiful and unique. They use it as a divider between the offices area and showroom area but they have an office rule that you're not allowed to walk through it, only around. That makes it kinda annoying. But it would look amazing as a room divider in a small space.

i saw these on a photoshoot in 1998, at a giant soho loft and have been in love with the concept ever since.

Minerals Spa at Crystal Springs in Vernon, NJ has this same metal bead curtain. I remember thinking when I saw it that while it was metal, it had a surprisingly soft and warm feel. It's a fantastic room divider.

I was in a EQ3 that had gorgeous, black floor to ceiling string-fringe as room dividers. The store guy was unfortunately too busy with other customers to ask about it.

I have to go back or call because that fringe provided a perfect tranluscense that didn't call udue attention to itself.

They also seem to have the string curtains and lots of party chandeliers . . . no idea about the quality though.

an asian restaurant near me uses this to divide the bar area from table seating. it acts as a great barrier - and lovely, too!

Saks Fifth Avenue Men's Store here in SF has had these on the top floor as window coverings facing Post Street...
...and I also saw these used as "doors" for a walk-in closet in a showhouse in San Jose a few years back

Griffin- Thanks so much for that link! As a person who had a vintage disco ball with spotlights professionally installed in my family room- that site is like a (seemingly affordable) candy store to me!!

There was an installation of these at Burning Man a few years back. I loved it, very soft and heavy, more like a very heavy curtain than metal.

The restaurant SEA - Thai Bistro in Williamsburg, Brooklyn uses these to separate their bathrooms from the bar area. They are very innovative with their interior design.

I wanted this is my studio apart around my bed but that was a few years ago... finally they are found, tho!

Gorgeous but impractical.
