apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Disco Dining...and Then Some

111808nytdining.jpgThe disco ball in this Gramercy Park apartment sparked ideas/reminders of the many places a disco ball can create a little flare and joy at home. In the bathroom, office, living room or kitchen (we couldn't find an image of a disco bedroom, but maybe that's a good thing), this accessory is not only for a 70s-inspired home:

I have wanted to put one in my bathroom for years - just for giggles.

I just fell in love with a crystal version of the disco ball in a boutique clothing shop. More of a chandalier-disco ball hybrid. Check out this version:

There are less pricey versions out there too.

Not a disco ball but the shadows are just as dramatic: http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/10/rock-the-casbah/

Well, before you showed the photos, you could have never convinced me that a mirrored ball was for anything else than a seventies styled home. Nice photos.

Re Casa Sugar: Goth, indeed. Please take down the deer's head. It's a horrible design cliche, plus what did this animal do to deserve having its head put up on someone's wall?

Disco balls are such fun. People who don't like disco are people who can't dance.

He broke someone's Disco Ball while eating the plastic daisies?

For years I had an 18" disco ball - because really, once you own it...like..what CAN you do with it?

I kept mine on a little padded ring on the floor next to the couch. It was near a sunlit window which made for CRAZY sparkles in the morning time.

I have a big one! I bought it for an 80's themed birthday party I was going to throw for my boyfriend's birthday... then he decided he didn't want a party. I'm contemplating putting it in our bathroom for morning sparkles.

I had three that were intended as Christmas ornaments (in green and purple clear glass, not actual mirrors) hanging from beaded cords in the kitchen window of my previous place. The cats were fascinated by the sparkles around sunset!
