Flexible Metal Vintage Bookends

100108bookend1.jpgMy husband has had these bookends for ages - scored at some thrift store years ago. They are great because they adjust as you add or remove books from your collection; you never have to move/adjust the bookend itself. We have two orange and two brown ones, and now we want more but don't know if they are still manufactured or if we must stick to treasure hunting. Does anyone know?

Any insight?

Can't say for sure but I *think* they are still being made. By Umbra perhaps?

I've known about these for a while and like the idea but have not gotten any.

They look cool, but I'm afraid of that curly one. If you remove the books, does it snap shut like a slap bracelet?

whytephoenix, they do close as you pull the books out, but it's not a sharp snap usually.

I got obsessive about them a few years ago (in silver and copper, with the flat end some kind of wood) and found quite a few on Ebay. It was interesting - some would go for $5 and some would go for closer to $100 (which was sadly what I was seeing in local antique stores). I managed to pick up quite a few for less than $30 each with shipping.
