Hand-painted Ostrich Eggs by Assouline

0925_librissime3.jpg

We're liking the soft, comforting form of ostrich eggs reproduced in these pendant lights and that painted threshold in Zohreh Daly's Michigan home. Put them together and this is what you get.

They're hand-painted ostrich eggs, made by luxury-edition bookmaker Assouline. Each egg stands about 7" tall and is painted with a letter or a playing card symbol. With a price tag of $200 each, we won't be using these to spell out much more than an initial, but they do inspire us to find a DIY.

Available at Librissime in Montreal.

Love the look of them, but $200. Not to mention my daughter has broke the last two that we had. If you feel like DIY.....http://www.uniquelyemu.com/eggshells.htm#ostrich There are also other sites to get them from.
