As seasons turn, an easy way to update and refresh a room is through accessories. As the Fall 09 designs hit the stores, we've seen a shift toward embroidered pillows - here are 5 very varied examples that are all on trend and under $100 each....
Shown above, left to right:
La Vie Pillow from CB2 for $49.95
Lost Garden Pillow in Orange from Anthropologie for $98.
Rowen Pillow from Crate & Barrel for $36.95
Day Lily Embroidered Pillow from Pottery Barn for $39.
Wild & Wooly Deer Pillow from Anthropologie for $78.
98 dollars for a pillow? you've got to be kidding me. that'd be the day.
i have a gorgeous mismatched bunch the most expensive of which might've cost me 29 dollars (canadian!). i'm always floored at how much stupid people are willing to pay for things.
try etsy or home sense or ten thousand villages or even your local craft show and spend the money you save on something a little more worthwhile.

Hmm...I love embroidery, but these leave me wanting more. The one that stands out to me the most is the one with the deer. Maybe the ones I'm lusting after are over 100?

These pillows have no character at all. Why spend so much on a mass-produced piece of machine embroidery when you can buy gorgeous hand-crafted embroidered pillows from artisans both in the US and other countries, such as India?

if you are at all crafty, embroidery isn't that tough. a few years ago I bought several vintage 70s kits at thrift stores and off of Ebay and made similar items to #1 for friends. the cool thing is you can use whatever colors you want.

Love the first one- I'm a sucker for anything with fall leaves- but $50 for a throw pillow? I don't even like spending $20. Maybe if I was a millionaire.
