Pink Rooms for Grown-Ups

0211_pink5.jpg

Sure, Betsey Johnson's loft is pink. And by now we all know of Julian Schnabel's home with a pink exterior. But would you go pink at home (outside of your child's room)?...

Here are some great pink rooms to win you over, from modern to traditional, soft to bright:

I always find pink rooms so appealing, so I definitely would consider it, if I could figure out how to do it right.

I love Pink - I recently had some draperies for my den lined and welted in hot pink and they came out great!

Now I'm considering pink sheets for my bedroom...

I too love soft pinks for rooms. The red & pink combo can also be lovely!

Could you supply the paint color names and brands for the picture with the gooseneck lamp and empty frame and for the picture with the shirt hanging on a hook beside the open bedroom door? I have pink walls in my office and don't like the shade. I'm trying to find the perfect shade, but it's tough! Any general advice on how to get a good pink that's not too babyish and not too Bratz-hot-pink?

Of course. Pink is great for the skin tone, especially in the bathroom.

i would definitely do pink. i think it can be sophisticated, chic, girly, modern, or extremely neutral....all depending on what shade you use.

I am not crazy about the soft pinks maybe in the right place a seaside bungalow with other shell colors.

I like the more intense pinks here.

I have a beautiful picture of a hot pink dahlia I took that I am going to have printed on a 42 x 28 piece of plexiglass to hang on the wall. Not that original but a fun and inexpensive way to bring in the color.

i've always been suspicious of that skin tone concept. they say all skin tones but does that really include all skin tones? i'm dark brown with yellow undertones. no one has ever said i looked good in pink. someone once insisted they preferred me in blue.

I'd use hot pink accents, but pale pinks are not my thing.

Lady J: OBVIOUSLY only light-toned people want to look good. So you're just out of luck. (Also, you're not supposed to use the Crayola color Flesh.) Silly, isn't it?

I know pick is not always a good color to wear for some but some pink in a space with the right lighting can make you look great. That is why many bars in hotels use peach or rose tinted mirrors in their bathrooms.

My husband is actually the one who got me thinking about pink in our bedroom. Not pepto pink, but a pale pink.

I painted the stairway and one wall Farrow & Ball's Middleton Pink http://www.farrow-ball.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=0245MP&cid=PC&language=en-GB and am thinking about adding some brighter, hotter pink accents. It does make the light warmer and does seem to be flattering on both our skin tones (white and brown)

In my last house, I did pink in the kitchen. I had the pink kitchen aid mixer, all the utensils and some canisters, plates dishtowels etc. The walls were neutral. I really enjoyed it! Alas, in the new house, I keep all the pink in the cabinet and pantry. it is an open concept kitchen and looks like part of the living room, so the pink just won't work all the time. I just brought out the pink for valentine's day so I could enjoy it for a while! Think Pink!

Our first home together had a pink living room -- people were surprised, to say the least!

In our first house, we glazed the walls of our bedroom 3 different shades of Chinese pink -- it was gorgeous, the most beautiful pink I have seen.

And now, our 5 year old has 2 hot pink walls, and 1 medium pink wall, like Betsey Johnson's -- all her choices.

I would LOVE to, but my husband is a red-head and pink can be extremely unflattering for him!

Oh -- and I totally forgot -- we made the exterior of our (first) house pink too! A lovely light pink, with a beautiful white picket fence in front, and a tall white fence covered with English sweetpeas on the side (we had a corner lot).

It was a charming 1930 1.5 storey house with a peaked roof, just like children draw when they draw a house. It was beautiful.
