Guess Whose Garage This Is?

091608-garage.jpg For those who have been reading the comments lately, you might have seen the garage above pictured in one of our readers links. Click through the jump to see who this fabulous space belongs to...

On Monday we showed you the fantastic garage belonging to a Mid Century home in Prairie Villiage, Ks. As you might remember, it was the house with clear garage doors.
The owner tipped us off to what her garage usually looks like (when she isn't in the middle of a basement renovation!). It could be one of the best garages west of the Mississippi and just had to share it with you.

The garage was featured over at DIY Ideas from Better Homes and Gardens. Check out the rest of the photos from her well manicured garage here. You might suddenly feel the urge to spend next weekend in the garage tidying things up. Look for an upcoming home tour on this quaint Mid Century style home!

Thanks Amy for link, great job!

This is the house with the clear garage door? Well, no wonder they went for glass. This is so chic.

I love the metal cabinets on the wall. They must be custom made.

Molunat, if I'm not mistaken, the stainless cabinets, bench, and red stack are all off the floor products from Sears.

How lovely. One of my decorating goals is to drive my car into a beautifully organized garage. This is sweet.

what's with everybody's weird garage cringes? it's almost like a phobia, i don't understand why all these people (mostly the comments on the other post with the clear doors) think that a garage should not be seen.

anyway, i would really like to see more garage interiors in the future. i love making things and listening to records and being outside, so to me a garage is the perfect space. you can have the large door open, making is easy to step outside for just a minute while you are working on a project, and you can play music and just hang out. a very laid back space, i think.

I can see why someone would have no qualms about showing off their garage if it looked this clean, but I still wouldn't want to do it myself.

Why tempt people to break into my house via garage, especially if I'm practically displaying my "wares"?

It's ok, I don't think you can see the Chico's bag from the street. I think it's one of those spaces in the home where people don't feel they have to be fastidious, and yet, when you have a wide-open view, I think you have some responsibility for what's on display to your neighbors. Like I said in the other thread, there's a reason your landlord wouldn't like you to use your balcony for storage. Still, being a garage entails certain types of items be stored and/or used there. I like how it looks from the front of the house as an architectural detail, and I even like how the owner has taken a laid-back approach.. because sometimes, it's one of those times when you don't realize you're being photographed, and it's your space and you need to use it in a way that doesn't flatter the architecture as much, but it's a temporary state.

It's not for everyone to up-keep, but I think that they are doing their best to make it scenic from the street and still useful as a garage. I've seen more of what are often called "carports" that don't even have a door for security or modesty etc. I also grew up with no garage (or carport), but we had a shitty basement and a shed out in the back yard so our junk wasn't really visible.
