Halloween: Keeping Things Spooky Yet Attractive

102108-halloween1.jpg Most of the time when we think about decorating for Halloween, it involves children's crafts and many things that are typically unattractive. But not in this Charleston, South Carolina home. Click through the jump to see all the little nooks and crannies of their grownup Halloween decor!

Evita Smith and her fiance Michael Judd have been hard at work making things around their home a little bit spooky without going over the top. We would love to attend any party with such a fun tablescape. Check it out below!

The glittered skulls are a great way to bring some sparkle to the season without making things feel too over the top. Just a little in just the right places!

A Milk Glass vase makes the other colors on the table stand out and still feel traditional.

A raven overlooks the feast.

Scarlett and Rhett are holding down the fort.... we mean fireplace.

The crisp white woodwork makes the spooky decor still feel very homey.

These Carew Rice tumblers The votives are actually bar tumblers that have been in Evita's family for as long as she has. They were made from silhouettes by Carew Rice.

Here's a close up of the detailing.

Yay, Halloween! I like this decor. It's a definite nod to the holiday without being overkill.

Let's give credit where credit is due... Martha cornered (or, in the spirit of the season, "coronered") the market on glam-adult Halloween decor LONG ago...

Thanks for the lovely write up Sarah and the great comments everyone!

RedMaiko - we did not make the votives/tumblers. They've been in my family for a long time. I am going to go out on a limb and say that they were a wedding present to my parents 53 years ago. I'll let you know if that's wrong.

I saw those glittered skulls in the October 07 issue of Martha Stewart Living. Kudos to you for actually doing it!

Love it! My dad used to go all out for Halloween. So far all I've got is a pumpkin. But since I'm in Charleston, SC, I'm tempted to head over to Evita and Michael's house to see this awesomeness in person!

spaceagemouse, that's where I got the inspiration for those skulls! They were a lot of fun to make.

FF, you are more than welcome to come over.
