Reader's Room: Andrew's Two Chicago Built-In Units

093008andrew1.jpgAnswering our call for built-ins, AT reader Andrew sent in a few photos and thoughts: Finally, I have a chance to showcase my beautiful built-ins. That's right, I have TWO fantastic built-in units in my apartment. They were a huge draw when I first viewed the place.

One is in my dining room, and makes an excellent display for my glass and plate collection, as well as an easily accessible bar area. The other is in my living room, and saved me a lot of money because it serves as both bookshelves and a full length mirror. Plus there's plenty of room on top both to display photos and knick-knacks. I also had the walls changed from boring linen white to cozy Rockport Gray, which makes the glossy white built-ins really pop out.

Thanks for recognizing the awesome power of the Built-In! - Andrew

Those look vaguely like the ones in the apartment I fell in love with back in March or so, but the landlord didn't answer my questions in a timely manner so I never got the app in :( ....it wouldn't happen to be on Sunnyside would it?

The paint color is from Benjamin Moore, called Rockport Gray. It has an amazing ability to pick up greens and blues, and works well with dark reds as well. Definitely the right choice!

And sorry, amiencc, but my place is not on Sunnyside.
