apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

An Ultra-Modern Villa in Uruguay

We've seen some gorgeous Uruguayan homes and gardens on Apartment Therapy, including a seaside cottage, a lush patio, and a sunny apartment. These homes all have a sense of airiness and openness about them, a characteristic that we discovered again in a modernist villa currently listed for sale in Jose Ignacio...

Listed through the European Real Estate Network, the 4-bedroom house is a low, horizontal building that seems to spread into the surrounding landscape. A long patio overlooks the fields beyond, while a swimming pool marks the entrance. We love the simple palette of white walls, large glass windows, natural wood, and blue or green details.

For a brief overview of the real estate market in Uruguay, see this article from the New York Times. Find more photos and information on this villa right here.

I am SO proud that my country is featured on your blog!! This swanky house is probably located in Punta del Este, a beautiful place east of the capital. Nice, eh? Thanks for posting!
PS: It's "Uruguayan" :-)

Warning if you visit this beautiful coastal town you will not want to leave. I am in tears just thinking about how beautiful it is and wish I was there right now. This would be a dream house for me.

And indeed a beautiful country.

Gorgeous-ly simple and relaxing. And that kitchen table -- that is exactly what I have inside my head for my coffee table -- anyone have a source for a coffee table in that vein? Love the rustic, almost driftwood look of it without looking Mexican-rustic-style.

Those green bottles are used to store wine. They're called "damajuanas".
