apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Maisonette by Studio Gang Architects
ArchDaily

More good work from Chicago's Studio Gang Architects, whose office and community center have inspired us before. ArchDaily takes a look at one of their residential projects, an airy apartment constructed in the former ballroom of the Ambassador West Hotel...

Concrete, steel, and masonry combine to form a great set of bones. Perforated steel plates create a hanging hallway above the large open space, and steel and glass walls separate the rooms, with long curtains used for privacy. We especially love the way artwork is hung on the interior glass walls.

There are more pictures, floor plans, and section drawings over at ArchDaily. You can also check out the project at Studio Gang's site.

Just Wow - That's some lust-worthy modernism.

I love so much of it, but think the floor plan is a bit of a mess.
