The Mini House was designed for Swedish homeowners, whose zoning laws allow them one "extra house" of up to 15 square meters on their property without a building permit.

The cottage is a typical Swedish timber structure with a large outdoor deck and a small indoor living space. A sliding glass door connects the indoors with the outside, making the interior appear larger.

The Mini House is a prefab, flat-pack model that can be customized to incorporate solar power. The cost comes in around 12, 200 Euros for a standard design.

The Floating House, on the other hand, is an unbuilt conceptual design. The form is a traditional pitched-roof structure on a raft.

Inside, the roofline helps to determine the layout. A central room contains the kitchen, living, and dining areas.

Bedrooms are inset into one side of the house, taking advantage of the low space under the eaves. The bed looks out onto the main living space.

On the other side of the house is the bathroom. Both the Mini House and the Floating House play with fairly traditional, conservative forms in new contexts. For more information on Jonas Wagell Design, click here.
