We've covered shipping container homes on AT before (here, here and here), but we're continually impressed by the possibilities of this malleable recycled material. Archinect has a good article right now on this modern home by DeMaria Design Associates, constructed from 8 stacked containers with its own container pool...
The home won an AIA award for Design Excellence in 2007 and exploits the possibilities inherent in recycled steel. In addition to shipping containers, the house uses recycled parts from an airplane hangar. DeMaria is currently exploring the prefab possibilities of shipping container architecture for multi-unit apartment housing. For the full article, click here.
