In this MP3 era, CDs are becoming a thing of the past. Even if you still listen to the mini-discs, you probably have a bundle of regrettable purchases. Trevor O'Neil, a local designer with a talent for repurposing, came up with a great green solution by recycling his undesirables into shower rings.

O'Neil thought of the idea in response to ReadyMade's MacGyver CD Challenge. Sadly, he didn't win but he did get runner up. More importantly, he's got a new set of shower rings:
They've been up for about six months now. Some of the labels start to peel after awhile and eventually they can crack a little but so far no major probs. But, literally, I could replace my set about five times right now with all the crap/used CDs that I have.

Is it the prettiest? No. But it isn't hideous and it is quirky. I've certainly had bathrooms in rental apartments that were never going to look "apartmenttherapy perfect". I think this would have been a cute way of adding a bit of personality on a budget.

This is stupid. Not only are you not repurposing anything in order to avoid buying something new (still have to buy the metal ball chain to hold them to the curtian, which would have looked better on its own), it also looks AWFUL.

I'd like to know if any of your curtain holes have torn-- I'm thinking that the flexibility of the chain could help maintain the integrity of the hole and the life of the curtain. I have had problems with these holes (or is it the person yanking on the curtain?) I am a bit surprised by the strong commentary. I find the idea more intriguing than anything else, which in my mind diminishes the bad idea factor. C'mon, do so many of have you have such perfectly appointed spaces? Plus, the discs would add a whole new dimension of light play to your loo.
