Finding Reclaimed Materials at Planet Reuse

Kansas City architect Bradley Hardin and his partners Nathan Benjamin and Daniel Fox decided there weren't enough resources for those interested in using salvaged or reclaimed materials. So they did something about it. Click through the jump to learn about their 100% free to use website for all your reused and reclaimed building needs.

Planet Reuse is the first website that brings buyers and sellers of reused and reclaimed building materials and equipment together. It doesn't matter if you are around the globe or in the same city from your seller/buyer, you are able to interact with anyone who has items listed. Sometimes that means individual contractors, sometimes it means stores that focus on the reselling of materials, either way it's a good thing.

At Planet Reuse sellers create a listing for their product and in turn buyers may browse by a number of categories (location, material, product) to find what they are looking for.
Planet Reuse fills a void that leaves builders and homeowners wanting to use reclaimed items in their building process, but want to do it with less hassle.
There is no "bidding" like you might find on Ebay (and some Craigslist listings) and they strive to keep the site focused only to construction materials and equiptment. New items are posted daily, so be sure to check the site out frequently as items are listed and sold on a first come, first served basis.
There's no need to worry about your financial transactions or shipping, they are all done with Paypal through Planet Reuse.

After clicking through a few states worth of listing we found everything from reclaimed pre-Civil War bricks, wide wooden plank flooring, 1,000's of drawer pulls and other assorted hardware, and movie shelves from Hollywood video. So start searching, you'll never know what resources are just a click away!

FYI, for those in or around Baltimore, there is The Loading Dock. Very similar to this (there is a small membership fee), basically a warehouse full of reclaimed construction materials, appliances, etc. Definitely worth a look.

This is an amazing idea!! I was looking for reclaimed wood to make a table awhile back and I found it quite difficult because most of the places that sold them were out of town and for me to drive there to look at it and not like it was just too much for me. At least with this website, I can see pictures of it before purchasing and I don't have to leave my home! Thanks Bradley Hardin, Nathan Benjamin, and Daniel Fox for a fab idea!
