We've been enjoying ReadyMade's blog lately, and even saw a recent link to AT:Kitchen. They are currently asking for some MacGyver-esque ideas on what the heck to do with plastic pens that have run their course. They write:
It’s up to you, dear readers, to chart a new course for these inky vessels [Deadline: July 31, 2007]. The best penmanship wins a subscription and a ReadyMade T-shirt.
Send photos or projects to: MacGyver Challenge, 817 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94710 or articles [at] readymademag [dot] com.

Don't acquire them in the first place. Get yourself a Waterman (or an Aurora, or an insert-your-favorite-brand-here), refill it from a bottle, and savor the sensual pleasure of writing with something solid and well crafted that will last for decades.
(Okay, now don't ask me about filling out those nasty multiple-copy forms.)

I know this is tangential, but if anybody's listening: what do I do with my wine corks? I have about 30 in a bowl.

Saha:
we collected wine corks last year and took them to the Lincoln Park conservatory. They re-use them for planting purposes... see an old post on the subject here.
OR..did you mean you wanted to keep them and do some sort of project with them?

I'd love to make something but barring that, I'm happy to donate. Thanks for the link.

Saha,
Here's an idea i'm minorly obsessed with, i think it would be a fairly easy DIY...

Yup...we posted on that cork idea too...! Jess2nola, have you done it?

No, i haven't tried, but I'm thinking about doing it as a gift for a good friend who loves wine and dinner parties...maybe I'll use the corks from the bottles we drink together...
