The Weekend Search: Garage Sales, Thrift Shops, Flea Markets

When the weekend rolls around we have the time for a little treasure hunting. We are starting off a list with a few spots to dig through and hope that readers who have a scoop on more spots will add them to the comments thread.

If you are having a tag sale this weekend, know of a great thrift shop or are hitting a flea market, let us know.

We got an Chicago Mag Marquee email about the Sandwich Antiques Market being held this Sunday:
"You’ll find about 600 exhibitors with guaranteed antique and/or collectible furniture, jewelry, tools, fabric, clothing, art, and more at the Sandwich Antiques Market held at the Sandwich Fairgrounds (one block south of Route 34, Sandwich) on June 18th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rows K, L, and M are set up for “shabby chic” items. Admission during regular market hours is $5. An early buying session will be held during dealer setup on June 17th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for $30." For info/directions click here.

"Rosemont has grown into a giant quasi-antique show. I know some dealers who have quit going to the big shows and now just sell at Rosemont. There are hundreds of dealers selling everything you can imagine and a few things you'd rather not. Get there early for the best finds — doors open at 6am. If I had to pick one market to go to on a Sunday, this would be it."
