Chris's 'Woodsy Beach' Living Room
Room for Color - North #16

thumbs up

Name: Chris
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Type of Home: Rental Apartment

Color Inspiration: I like bold and rustic color schemes, and had in mind colors that would give off a summery yet cozy yet not so cutesy cabin-by-the-lake vibe (hence the greens and browns).

Give Chris a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

Color Inspiration continued: That said, I also enjoy the contrast of primitive and modern, and have started introducing this idea color-wise with the addition of bright red items and colorful contemporary artwork.

Colors Used: Walls: Warm Glow (Behr)
Furniture: Smoke Gray, Green Apple, Almond, Fire Engine Red

Color Tip: Choose your colors carefully, but don't be overly cautious. A wimpy, restrained, partly-realized color scheme will make your room look faded and humorless. Do what you want, even if it means your deer head wears a badminton medal or you have a white plastic dollar store cat on your bookshelf. Friends will just assume you know something that they don't and ask if they can copy your bad ideas ;)

Beautiful wood end table. Can you tell us more about it? Nice art work too!

Thumbs up when it's activated. I love the green chairs & bench(?). I love how this room is put together--it just works for me somehow.

The end table is actually a hollow box on legs that's been veneered with 5 different types of wood. I built it for our modem, wireless router, and assorted cables to keep the mess out of sight.

Hey ChristopherB - thanks for the additional info. That's a great idea. I fight to hide my wireless equipment & cable Internet box. This gives me an idea.

Unfortunately, the fleshy wall color subtracts alot from what could be the start of a great room

Great to see another Minnesotan make it through to Round 2! I love your green n steel furniture and the way it pulls out the colors in the sweet Fleet Foxes poster!
