every one i voted for yesterday lost. i'm stunned. most of the strongest contenders this year - in my opinion - fell by the wayside. those were some sophisticated and deftly balanced color schemes...

i think people fail to understand the concept of the contest. it's not about loads of color or saturated color. it is about exceptional color schemes, be they pale, muted, bright or dark. the combination of the colors it what matters. if an all white room won that would not be amusing because really it would be about how they'd handled texture and style, not color. it's not important to like the style of the home, although it is difficult to avoid it when you do, it's about the color scheme even if everything came from walmart and ikea.

Lady J, I agree. Both of my favorites got knocked out yesterday, and I think they are probably the ones you're referring to above. I do understand why AT made the contest completely democratic this year (because people complain every year about the judging process!) but I really miss the balance judges bring when the come in for the final rounds. They take all the things you mentioned into account, not just who had the brightest colors.
