Roundup: Fancy Schmancy Contact Papers

092908-contact.jpg We're not sure what the appeal of contact paper is. Maybe it's the inexpensive makeover possibilities, maybe it's just fun to peel and stick it to something (sorry, we're easily amused). Either way, we are head over heels for some fancy self adhesive papers. There is everything from pool table felt to wood grains, metals and don't forget pricing after the jump...

The contact papers from designyourwall.com are ones that might require saving a penny or two (depending on your budget). Sure you can find similar styles at discount and big box stores, but these have a little more adhesive and cleaner printing on them. They also are repositionable and won't stick to themselves. They also carry almost every solid color under the sun in matte and glossy forms. Check out the different styles below...

Ash Woodgrain: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long

Apple/Birch Chocolate: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long

Paliseo Nutmeg: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long

Rustic Wood: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long

Shaving Wood Chip Particleboard: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long

Grey Felt: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 16.5 feet long. We can see this being used as a headboard, or matting to a photo in a frame or even on top of a sidetable.

Blue Light Velour: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 16.5 feet long.

Faux Cork: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long.

Wildlife Boa Snakeskin: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 33 feet long. This could be used under glass to make a great accent to a tray found at a thriftstore, or even around a vase or lamp. A little animal print goes a long way, and this might be just the right amount.

Bali-Bambus Green: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long. This might make a great backdrop to your dishes, don't forget about papering the back of your cabinets and not just the bottom.

Silver Metal Riffelblech Hochglanz: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 33 feet long.

Silver High Gloss Metallic: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long.

Gloria translucent floral glass contact film: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet long. This would be great used on a glass vase, or around a mirror to give it a hip old lace twist on things. This film is clear and intended for use on windows.

Joyce translucent contact window film: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 49.5 feet. This paper is frosted and is intended for use on windows.

Silver Circles Metallic Kreis Self-Adhesive embossed: $65/roll, 18 inches wide by 33 feet long.

Fabric Blue Self-Adhesive faux weaved: $65/roll, 18 inches by 49.5 feet long.

I'm loving the Fleur de Lis contact paper:

Thanks for the resource!

Ouch!

If you search hard enough you can find very similar ones for much cheaper. Home Depot (Canada) has various wood grains for $11 and Honest Eds (Toronto) has the chip board for $2.99. I used it on the drawers of my filing cabinets.

i like the apple/birch chocolate. i have some white lack shelves that i wanted to do something with, i wish ikea had a veneer in this tone... something in between the light birch and black/brown! maybe something like this would work.

has anyone used the ones from design youw walls? at $65 its not that cheap- im wondering about the finish if its going to be really shiny like most contact papers. anyone know?

for some of us, there is no appeal to contact paper.
