My brother got that French Bull Serving platter (#1) as an engagement gift, but he and his fianceƩ didn't see the beauty in it. They thought it was cheap and tacky and thanked me for taking it off their hands. Silly Kids.

When I glanced at the screen as I was scrolling down, the mosaic platter caught my eye. At first glance, I thought it was a zulu telephone wire basket and when I looked more intently realized that it wasn't.

I don't think melamine is for everyone, but I think it is a useful and interesting material and it is perfect for picnics. I think I prefer some of the vintage melamine dishes because I find their shapes are pleasing.

Having had to live with melamine when it was new, I hate it with a passion now. But the designs are kind of interesting. (I think I'd prefer a different colorway for the concentric zig-zag pattern, but the idea is fun... Maybe primaries and neons?)

I'm also thinking about eating a colorful summer salad out of these bowls - how would you know when you were done?

I have some sweet melamine plates I bought at Target a few years back. They look good as new and are a breeze to clean up.
